Apples are harvested using three-point ladders that are designed to fit amongst the branches. Trees grafted on dwarfing rootstocks will bear about 10–80 kg (20–180 lb) of fruit per year. Farms with apple orchards may open them to the public, so consumers may themselves pick the apples they will purchase.
